University Offers Support in Continuous Medical and Nursing
Education
A five-team
delegation, headed by the Afghan Minister for Public Health, Dr.
General Sohaila Sediq, visited Aga Khan University (AKU) on 16 January
2003. This visit was part of a programme to seek expertise from
Pakistan's medical, educational and training centres, and discuss
various options in which assistance could be offered to improve
health conditions in Afghanistan. AKU is part of Aga Khan Development
Network (AKDN), a group of private international development agencies,
founded by His Highness the Aga Khan, which work in the developing
countries of Asia and Africa. AKDN is playing a continual role in
the economic, social and culture development of Afghanistan, with
US $75 million committed by His Highness the Aga Khan in 2002 towards
the reconstruction of the country.
