Translator/Editor (Part-time, Fixed-term)
The Institute offers a pleasant working atmosphere and runs numerous academic and social events throughout the year, attended by scholars, researchers and cultural figures.
Muslim Civilisations Abstracts (MCA) has been launched by the Institute to promote the scholarship of the Muslim world by providing a systematic annotated online bibliography of key works concerning Muslim civilisations, published during the last ca. 200 years. These bibliographical records are being accompanied by critical abstracts, written by scholars and experts in eight different languages (Arabic, English, French, Indonesian/Malay, Persian, Russian, Turkish and Urdu) . Further details of the project can be found on the Institute's website at http://www.aku.edu/ismc/abp-d.shtml .
The AKU-ISMC website is the Institute's face to the world. It provides accurate, up to date information about the Institute's activities, educational programmes, research and publications. As the Institute's mandate is to provide information about education and resources around the world, a programme of translating the website is currently underway. The website translation programme aims to translate core elements of the website into a range of languages, selected on the basis of their relevance within Muslim contexts. The languages selected are: Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian/Malay, Persian, Swahili, Urdu.
